Roll of Remembrance
You can commemorate the memory of a lost loved one by placing an entry in the Roll of Remembrance. The roll is hand-made with leaves lettered by highly skilled craftsmen. It is the only permanent memorial available at the crematorium.
The Roll of Remembrance is displayed in the Chapel of Remembrance which houses a large ornate stained glass window and tiered vase stands, where floral tributes may be left.
The pages are are displayed for a full week on and around the anniversary of the death in this sequence:
Roll of Remembrance display dates:
- 1st to 8th of the month
- 9th to 15th of the month
- 16th to 23rd of the month
- 24th to 30th / 31st of the month
February only:
- 1st to 7th of the month
- 8th to 14th of the month
- 15th - 21st of the month
- 22nd to 28th / 29th of the month
Inscriptions can vary between two and eight lines. Inscriptions of five lines or more may also include an illustration of your choice.
Orders should be placed at least 6 months before the date of the anniversary.
In addition to placing an entry in the Roll, you can also order individual memorial cards and books to either keep at home or send to distant relatives or friends.
The Roll of Remembrance can also be viewed online, meaning it can be viewed every day of the year. This may be helpful to those who are unable to visit the crematorium.
Please note: Excessive humidity from the display of floral tributes has an effect on the pages of the Roll of Remembrance. At the end of each day we move the floral tributes to the Flower Chapel (opposite the main doors) where they remain for one week.
We also reserve the right to move floral tributes to an alternative location within the grounds of the crematorium during busy periods on health and safety grounds to avoid the risk of trips, slips and falls.
