Dementia ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú Workers at Alzheimer's Society offer information and practical guidance to help you:
- understand dementia
- cope with day-to-day challenges
- prepare for the future

Alzheimer's Society South Tyneside offers:
- Dementia ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú - Our Dementia ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú Workers offer information and practical guidance to help you understand the condition, cope with day-to-day challenges and prepare for the future.
- Face-to-face, over the phone or in writing we will help you to:
- remain independent and stay active for as long as possible
- get the information and advice you need to make informed decisions about your wellbeing
- find other local services which can help to improve your life.
- Face-to-face, over the phone or in writing we will help you to:
- Groups: for people with dementia and their family/carers
- Singing for the Brain® and Virtual Singing for the Brain® It provides a good wellbeing and a social boost for everyone - even those that think they cannot sing (we are not a choir)!
- Carer Peer ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú: For family and carers of people living with dementia. A confidential, friendly, supportive place to ask, talk & share with other carers.
- Dementia cafe - A social and interactive cafe for people living with dementia, their family and carers. We welcome people living with dementia and their family / carers Types of actives include:
- seated exercises
- local history reminiscence
- group activities
- social / chat time
- Musical Memories
- Dementia support & local area update bulletins - Service users can opt into weekly bulletin which has updates of relevant information
Alzheimer's Society also have a national helpline where dementia advisors will listen and give you support and advice, and connect you to help you need:

- Monday to Wednesday: 9am to 8pm
- Thursday and Friday: 9am to 5pm
- Saturday and Sunday: 10am to 4pm
There are also many resources on their website for people with dementia, their families, friends, and carers.
Who can access the service
People with dementia, their carers, family and friends who are registered with a South Tyneside GP, or who care for someone with dementia who lives in the South Tyneside Borough

Monday to Friday, 9am - 4.30pm
