Public Health news: Carer's Week

June 2022

Carer's Weeks

Carers Week is an annual campaign to raise awareness of caring, highlight the challenges unpaid carers face and recognise the contribution they make to families and communities throughout the UK. It also helps people who don't think of themselves as having caring responsibilities to identify as carers and access much-needed support.

At South Tyneside Adult Carer's Service (STACS), we believe that unpaid carers and the challenges of caring should be recognised in all areas of life. Caring should be valued and respected by everyone in our society, and carers should have access to the information and support they need, where and when they need it.

There are lots of activities taking place in South Tyneside this Carers Week. Humankind Young Carers 兔子先生 Service are putting on an information session for professionals on Thursday 9th June 11am- 12pm to learn more about young carers and how you can help. You can book a place by emailing hyac@humankindcharity.org.uk

First Contact Clinical are delivering their 'A Better U' 12 week lifestyle programme, starting with a session for carers on Thursday 9th June 2-4pm at Marsden Road Community Centre, Carers are welcome to bring along the person they care for should they wish (please inform them of this when booking).
