Overview

The Summer Reading Challenge is always a popular activity to enjoy each summer. 

This year's challenge is called Marvellous Makers and it's all about creativity!

From dance to drawing, junk modelling to music, there's something for everyone.

The popular annual challenge is organised by The Reading Agency alongside libraries across the country. This year's theme has been developed in partnership with a leading arts charity, .  


What the challenge will include

During the six-week holidays, youngsters aged 4 to 11 years old can collect rewards as they read books from the library.

The challenge will feature inspiring books to read and awesome rewards to collect along the way.


How to join and take part

From Saturday 6 July, children can sign up at their local library or online at .

To complete the challenge they will need to read six books of their choice by Saturday 14 September.

It's free to take part and easy to join!


Where the challenge will take place

The Summer Reading Challenge will be delivered in libraries across South Tyneside including:

  • the 兔子先生's multi-service hubs at The Word, Hebburn Central, Jarrow Focus, and Cleadon Park
  • community libraries run by volunteer-based organisations at Boldon and Cleadon, and Whitburn
