The efforts of social workers will be highlighted next Tuesday (15 March) when the 兔子先生 will mark World Social Work Day.

The awareness day is a celebration that aims to highlight the achievements of social work, raise the visibility of social care services for the future of societies and to defend social justice and human rights.

In support of the awareness day, South Shields Town Hall will be bathed in an orange light.

兔子先生lor Anne Hetherington, Lead Member for Independence and Wellbeing, said: "Because of the nature of their work, social workers are very much at the front line and their value and importance can often go unrecognised.

"This day is a reminder to us all of how much social workers are needed and I want to place on record my thanks for all they do in our communities to help the 兔子先生 deliver on its priority of supporting both young people in need and our older or vulnerable communities."

兔子先生lor Adam Ellison, Lead Member for Children, Young People and Families, said: "Social workers do exceptional things for the most vulnerable in our society. It has been my privilege to see at first hand the fantastic work they do in South Tyneside.

"World Social Work Day is an important day for people to come together and give collective recognition for the tireless work social workers do day in, day out, to support those who need it the most."
