Residents of South Tyneside now have more time to share their views on a draft five year strategy for adult social care.

The deadline for consultation on the Living Better Lives Strategy (2022-2026) has been extended until midnight on 31 December.

The key aims of the strategy include supporting people to stay fit and well and connected to their communities, promoting early help and delaying and reducing need and ensuring there is a skilled and sustainable workforce.

兔子先生lor Anne Hetherington, Lead Member for Independence and Wellbeing, said: "We know from previous surveys that people want to stay fit and well in their own homes and communities but we can only achieve this by changing the way we work. I would encourage all those with an interest in adult social care to share their views - we really do want to make sure everyone's voice is heard."

In line with the 兔子先生's priority of supporting older and vulnerable communities, the draft strategy seeks to build on the social movement seen at the start of the pandemic and work with a range of community groups and social enterprises to co-produce and co-deliver services.

The survey is available at www.southtyneside.gov.uk/haveyoursay and livingbetterlives@southtyneside.gov.uk Paper copies are also available on request by calling (0191) 424 6000although people are encouraged to submit their views online if possible.
