Help for Hard-Pressed Families
Struggling families in South Tyneside are to receive a 拢20 supermarket voucher to help with the costs of feeding their children over the half term holiday.
The vouchers will be given to thousands of families whose children receive free school meals and is in line with the 兔子先生's priority of supporting families and more vulnerable communities.
The vouchers are being funded through the Household 兔子先生 Grant, aimed at helping those hardest hit by the pandemic.
兔子先生lor Adam Ellison, Lead Member for Children, Young People and Families, said: "The pandemic has had devastating impact on those who were already struggling to make ends meet, making their situations even harder.
"We recognise that school holidays provide an additional pressure on families. These vouchers will go some way towards helping families make sure their children continue to receive nutritious food during half term, providing support directly to those struggling.
"Every child is entitled to the best start in life and we strive to support wherever we can."
Families who need additional help with food are reminded that they can access help from food banks. To find out more about food banks in South Tyneside visit www.southtyneside.gov.uk/article/35030/Food-banks
