Before you report a missed bin

Before you report a missed bin, please check:

  • Your bin was put out by 7:30am
We will not return before your next collection day if your bin was not out when we visited your street.
  • The correct bin was put out
We collect your waste one week, and your recycling the next (see which bin is due for collection). We will not return before your next collection day if the wrong bin was put out.
  • Your bin was in an obvious place
Your bin was put out at the edge of your property in an obvious place. This helps our crews to find it easily.
  • There were no contaminated items in your bin
We may have attached a tag to the handle of your recycling bin if we found incorrect items in your bin. We will not return before your next collection day if the bin has been tagged. You will need to remove any contaminated items, and put your bin out again on your next collection day.
  • Your bin wasn't overloaded and the lid was closed
We will not collect your bin if it is overloaded. You will need to remove bags from your bin so the lid closes, and put your bin out again on your next collection day.
  • Other bins on your street have been collected as usual
On rare occasions there may be delays to our service, for example, due to bad weather or operational issues. If a whole street has been missed, we will be aware of the delay and working to get to you as soon as possible. You do not need to report your bin as 'missed' - please keep your bin out until it has been collected.

Report a missed bin

If you have checked all of the above, it is possible your bin may have been missed accidentally.

How long you have to report

You have until 5.30pm the next working day after your street has been completed to report a missed bin.

If you get help to put your bin out (known as an 'assisted pull-out') there is no time limit on when you can make a report.

Before you start

Before you report a missed bin, you will be asked to confirm:

  • The correct bin was put out by 7:30am
  • There were no contaminated items in your bin
  • Your bin wasn't overloaded and the lid was closed
  • Other bins on your street were collected as usual
  • It is no later than 5.30pm the next working day after your street has been completed (this does not apply if you get help to put your bin out)
