Total prescribed long-acting reversable contraception - rate per 1,000
shows the rate of total prescribed long-acting reversable contraception (LARC) excluding injections per 1,000 for 2023.
- South Tyneside had a rate of 50.3 per 1,000. This was an increase over the previous year which was a rate of 35.7 per 1,000.
- This is statistically higher than the national rate of 43.5 per 1,000.
- The recent trend shows no significant change.
Hospital admissions as a result of self-harm (10 to 24 year-olds)
shows the rate of Hospital admissions as a result of self-harm (10 to 24 years old) per 100,000 for 2023 / 24.
- South Tyneside had a rate of 355.6 per 100,000.
- This is significantly higher than the national rate of 266.6 per 100,000.
- This continues to be a significant improving trend for South Tyneside.
Percentage of NHS health checks received by the total eligible population (Quarterly)
shows the percentage of NHS health checks received by the eligible population in Q3 2024 / 25.
- In South Tyneside 2.7% of the eligible population received NHS health checks.
- This is statistically higher than the national figure of 2.1%.
- This continues to be an improving trend for South Tyneside.
- Please note while an outreach programme had increased the number of invitations to attend an NHS Health Check the number of checks delivered in Q1 were underreported and were included as part of the Q3 data return inflating the reported figure.
Smoking prevalence in routine and manual occupations (aged 18 to 64)
shows the smoking prevalence in adults in routine and manual occupations (aged 18 to 64) for 2023.
- South Tyneside had a prevalence of 22.1%.
- This is statistically similar to the national prevalence of 19.5%.
- A trend cannot be calculated for this indicator due to fluctuation in the figures.
Smoking prevalence in adults (aged 18+) - current smokers (APS)
shows the smoking prevalence in adults aged 18 and over for 2023.
- South Tyneside had a prevalence of 12.7%.
- This is statistically similar to the national prevalence of 11.6%.
- This shows a continued downward trend within South Tyneside.
Children in care
shows the rate of children in care per 10,000 for 2023 / 24.
- South Tyneside had a rate of 102 per 10,000.
- This is statistically higher than the national rate of 70 per 10,000.
- The trend shows no significant change since 2018 / 19.
