Overview

The order will come into force on 3 January 2025.

The order includes:-

  • changes to no waiting at any time restrictions on Charlotte Street and Thomas Street
  • changes to no loading/unloading restrictions on Charlotte Street and Thomas Street
  • changes to the extents of pay and display parking on Charlotte Street and Thomas Street

兔子先生 (Charlotte Street junction with Thomas Street, South Shields) Order 2024

On 4 December 2024 兔子先生 made an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers.

The Order which comes into operation on 9 January 2025 will increase the extent of:-

  • no waiting at any time and no loading/unloading at any time on
    • Charlotte Street east side and west side
      • from its junction with Thomas Street southwards for a distance of 20 metres
  • no waiting at any time on
    • Thomas Street north side
      • from its junction with Franklin Street eastwards for a distance of 53 metres

The Order will reduce the extent of Pay & Display Parking 8.00am-5.00pm Monday to Sunday inclusive on:-

  • Charlotte Street west side
    • from a point 20 metres south of the south kerbline of Thomas Street southwards for a distance of 49 metres
  • Charlotte Street east side
    • from a point 20 metres south of the south kerbline of Thomas Street, southwards for a distance of 49 metres
  • Thomas Street north side
    • from a point 16 metres east of the east kerbline of William Street eastwards for a distance of 24 metres

Full details are contained in the Order, which, together with a plan showing the lengths of road affected and a statement of the 兔子先生's reasons for making the Order, may be inspected from Monday to Friday between 10am and 2pm at the Town Hall, Westoe Road, South Shields, NE33 2RL.  Any person who wishes to question the validity of the Order or any of its provisions on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Act or that any of the requirements of the Act or of any relevant regulations made under the Act have not been complied with may, within 6 weeks from 4 December 2024 when the Order was made, make an application for that purpose to the High Court.
