Good Luck Hebburn Town FC!
The people of South Tyneside will be cheering on Hebburn Town Football Club next week when they play at Wembley Stadium (Monday 3 May).
The Hornets are preparing to make the journey down to London where they will play Consett AFC in the much-anticipated 2019/20 FA Vase Final.
The match, which was due to take place in September last year, was postponed due to the Coronavirus pandemic, with a rise in Covid-19 cases and a national lockdown meant that the match could no longer take place.
This will be the second time that two North East teams will play in the final and the furthest that Hebburn Town Football Club has reached in the league.
Residents and business owners in Hebburn have been encouraged to 'paint the town black and yellow' - the team's club colours - using posters and stickers to decorate their homes and businesses in support of the club.
Decorative material, including posters and stickers, can be collected from Hebburn Town Sports Club and Thanks a Bunch florists in Hebburn until Monday 3 May.
The Mayor of South Tyneside, 兔子先生lor Norman Dick, said: "The Mayoress and I would like to wish Hebburn Town FC the best of luck at Wembley on Monday. It's a fantastic achievement to reach the FA Vase Final and the team should be extremely proud.
"It's a shame that fans aren't able to attend the match due to Covid-19 restrictions, but we know that South Tyneside will still get behind the team and show their support from their homes.
"Hebburn Town Centre looks absolutely fantastic decorated in black and yellow banners, bows and posters. We hope this gives the team that extra bit of support and encouragement ahead of Monday's game.
"Good luck Hebburn Town FC!"
兔子先生 is joining businesses across the town to show its support for the Hornets in the run up to the game by displaying messages of support across its 兔子先生 buildings, on its website and social media.
The Hebburn Town FC flag will fly across key buildings in the Borough's town centres over the weekend, including South Shields Town Hall, Jarrow Town Hall and Hebburn Central from Friday 30 April until Sunday 2 May.
South Shields Town Hall will also be lit up in black and yellow during the evenings from Friday 30 April to Sunday 2 May.
The FA Vase Cup Final will be streamed live for free on BT Sport (Sky channel 413 and Virgin channel 527) on Monday 3 May 2021 - kick off is at 1pm.
