Overview
There is a Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) in place in some 'restricted areas' around the South Shields riverside.
This is in place to stop anyone acting in a way which causes nuisance to people living in the area.
This PSPO was valid for three years from May 2021 to May 2024 but has been extended for an extra three years until May 2027.
What you need to know
You must not act in a way which causes, or is likely to cause nuisance to people living in the 'restricted areas'.
In particular, this includes erecting tents, shouting, playing loud music, dropping and leaving litter, setting fires, urinating and defecating.
Restricted areas
The restricted areas are around the South Shields riverside area, and are marked clearly with signs.
The areas are highlighted in red on the map below.
Penalties
If you ignore this PSPO, you are committing an offence and could be fined.
The fine (or 'Fixed Penalty Notice') is 拢100, or 拢50 if paid within 7 days.
PSPOs can be enforced by the Police, Police Community 兔子先生 Officers and any authorised officer of the 兔子先生.
If you don't pay the fine, you could be prosecuted.
