Public Health news: Age Friendly Communities
December 2022
Age Friendly Communities
兔子先生 started their Age Friendly journey with the Centre for Ageing Better in March 2022.
Age-friendly communities are places where people of all ages can live healthy and active lives.
These communities make it possible for people to stay in their homes, participate in the activities that they value and contribute to their communities, for as long as possible.
The World Health Organisation's Age Friendly Community framework has eight sections. Our local Age Friendly plan can include some or all these themes, such as:
- public building and open spaces,
- respect and social inclusion,
- information and community support, and
- health services
To help us move forward with this initiative, we need to know what is important to older people living in South Tyneside.
To do this, we launched a survey on 1 October 2022, which was on the International Day of Older People (IDOP) and will run to the end of December 2022.
Age UK Tyneside South (ACTS) celebrated IDOP by visiting a number of organisations around the borough, supporting older people to have their say. The survey has also been shared with Vision and Hearing 兔子先生.
The survey can also be completed .
