Balloon release ban
Mass balloon releases have become a popular way to mark an event or celebration.
Unfortunately, balloons and balloon fragments, even biodegradable ones, can pose a serious risk to wildlife, particularly marine animals.
Dolphins, whales, sharks, seabirds and turtles have all been killed by balloons and balloon strings through entanglement or ingestion.
In response, 兔子先生 has banned all balloon releases on council land and will encourage our partner organisations to do the same. This is a small but significant contribution to conserving our marine wildlife.
