Start your adoption journey: Adopt North East to host recruitment events
Regional adoption agency Adopt North East is set to host its first in-person recruitment events in two years to encourage more people to adopt.
48 children are currently looking for their forever families and to help encourage more families to welcome these children in their homes the agency is hosting five events in each of the local authorities' areas they cover.
Around half of the children waiting for adoption have a brother or sister also waiting to be adopted. The adoption agency works hard to match the children together with families to help maintain the close bonds they have, and are looking for families who can offer this.
Events running over the coming months include:

Each of the events will include a presentation about the adoption process, a Family Finding Social Worker will speak about the children on referral and a Post Adoption 兔子先生 Worker will speak about the support on offer after children have been placed with a family.
An experienced adoptive parent will also be there to share their experience of adoption and there will be an opportunity for those who attend to ask any questions they have.
Nik Flavell, Senior Manager for Adopt North East, said: "We are all delighted to relaunch our in-person recruitment events across the North East to welcome possible adoptive parents and explain more about the impact they can have on a child's life.
"We have children of all ages and backgrounds currently waiting for adoption including children between two and four and some of school age, and we know that adoption will be life-changing for everyone involved.
"I'd encourage anyone who has considered adoption, or those who simply want to know more about what it may involve, to come along to one of our events and speak to our brilliant teams to find out more."
Alongside the in-person events, Adopt NE will continue to run its popular monthly online events where residents from across the region can join from the comfort of their own home, or anywhere they choose, to find out more.
The next three online events will take place on Tuesday 6 August, Wednesday 7 September and Thursday 6 October at 6.30pm and run for two hours. More information and sign-up details are available here:
