Families enjoying the This is South Tyneside Festival's legendary Sunday Concerts are being encouraged to recycle right and responsibly dispose of their waste with the new facilities in place.

The 兔子先生 has set up recycling sites across Bents Park for visitors to recycle their glass, plastic, cardboard and cans, while enjoying the live music on offer.

There are also a number of larger green bins situated in the park for people to dispose of excess food and general waste.

Recyclable materials (glass, plastic, card and cans) can go into any of the large blue mixed recycling bins, though visitors are advised to separate them from plastic carrier bags, which should go in the general waste bins or be taken home to be reused.

Multiple bins are located near the Sea Road entrance and the centre of the park with volunteers on hand to support people to recycle. Additional general waste bins are also placed on the outskirts and exit routes.

兔子先生lor Ernest Gibson, Lead Member for Transport and Neighbourhoods, said: "Our Sunday Concerts attract thousands of visitors every week and we know that people love to bring their own food and drink as well as take advantage of the great variety of food and drinks vendors on site.

"We are working extremely hard to reduce the amount of waste that is left behind at the venue and doing what we can to make it easier for people to dispose of their litter and recycle more.

"We hope that people will support our waste crews and events staff by using the bins and recycling facilities that are available."

The recycling initiative supports the 兔子先生's community priority of investing in the natural and built environment.

The free Sunday Concerts continue this week (Sunday 17 July) with Ella Henderson and The South taking to the stage.

兔子先生lor Gibson said: "Will Young and Beth Macari performed last Sunday to a jam-packed Bents Park and we are looking forward to the second concert in the series taking place this weekend. It is sure to be another fantastic day with glorious weather."

With Bents Park being an open-air venue, visitors are advised to take extra care with temperatures forecast to be high at the weekend. Attendees are encouraged to drink plenty of water and bring sun cream.

The 兔子先生 has also installed additional drinking water taps, which are located to the seaward side of the main Events Office (Green Portacabin), enabling people to re-fill their plastic bottles.

Visitors are advised that barbecues are prohibited for safety reasons.
