March 2023
Junior Parkrun
The junior parkrun takes place every Sunday morning at 9am in North Marine Park, South Shields.
It is aimed at children aged between 4 and14 years old but adults can also run with their children.
Walk, skip or run the 2km course, have fun and get active at the same time!
Children and families have really got behind the new event as we saw the biggest junior parkrun turnout in the North East by week two with 110 children taking part. This also made the North Marine junior parkrun the 5th biggest junior event in England.
South Tyneside's Leader, Cllr Dixon was thrilled to attend the first major launch event at North Marine Park. "It is no secret that running - and walking - is good for your physical and mental health but running outdoors is also a fantastic way to connect with nature," said Cllr Dixon.
"We're excited and delighted to be hosting a new junior parkrun in our beautifully restored North Marine Park after many months of planning. It's a first for South Tyneside and is sure to be a huge hit with local children and young people.
We know that parkruns are also social occasions and are a great way to meet other people. I hope people take advantage of this event and have fun while keeping themselves healthy and making new friends."
Parkrun is free and you only need to register once at . Keep up to date with the latest North Marine junior parkrun announcements by following their Facebook () or Twitter () pages.
